This publication is the result of a long-standing collaboration between the Ukrainian Catholic University, Univerity of Notre Dame, and five universities from Central and Eastern Europe.
The “Catholic Universities Partnership” was established in 2003 to support universities in post-communist countries in their effort to navigate the commitment to faith and academic excellence. Inspired by a 2021 CUP conference and significantly inflected by the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, “The Trauma of Communism” collects stories and personal accounts about those traumatizing decades from scholars and colleagues in Czechia, Croatia, Georgia, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, and Ukraine.
