Faculty of Social Sciences (FSS) aims at growing its capacity of becoming UCU's vehicle of the evangelization of the social life, ethical reflection about social realities and policies, as well as communication and adapting of Catholic Social Thought (CST) to the Ukrainian social present and future.
Faculty of Social Sciences (FSS) aims at growing its capacity of becoming UCU's vehicle of the evangelization of the social life, ethical reflection about social realities and policies, as well as communication and adapting of Catholic Social Thought (CST) to the Ukrainian social present and future.
To prepare well for this mission a comprehensive capacity building program Catholic Social Thought for Impact is established by FSS. Such a program among other things includes induction training and immersion experience in CST, revision of curricula and academic courses by FSS faculty as well as conducting of events and seminars to facilitate knowledge transfer and experience exchange in the field of CST.
The School of the Social Thought of Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky organized by the Institute of Religion and Society (IRS), UCU will be held in November 2020.
The School is specifically designed for the FSS faculty and is open to all UCU professors who are interested in learning how the Metropolitan Sheptytsky's social teaching and social practice can provide us with important clues, principles and innovations for the twenty-first century challenges. In addition, the School aims to showcase and examine how Sheptytsky's profound thinking on social and moral issues can be incorporated into today's university's curriculum. The School will invite its participants to read and discuss some selected texts as well as to engage themselves with study-cases to have a better grasp of present day social issues from the point of view of Sheptytsky's legacy.

The School's participants will have a chance to attend a series of webinars-presentations of the newly published compendium of some of the major social encyclicals and documents of the Catholic Church (in Ukrainian). While the School itself will be open to UCU Faculty only, the webinars will be public events.
